Google Play Production Access Criteria
· 4 min read
What Google checks before granting production access, beyond the 12 testers / 14 days.
The explicit checks
- 12-tester / 14-day closed testing satisfied.
- App passes policy review for the production release.
- Account verification complete.
- No active enforcement actions.
The implicit signals
- Crash rate during closed testing. Very high crash rates can delay approval.
- Tester drop-off pattern. Mass uninstall mid-window raises flags.
- Account age. Newer accounts get more scrutiny.
How to pre-clear each
- Test major flows on real devices before closed testing.
- Brief testers so they don't mass-uninstall.
- Start ID verification day 0.
- Run policy compliance check (Play Console offers one) before submission.
